Ebook About UPDATED 2020 EDITION When my husband and I started full-time RVing, we knew nothing about RV living. We made it up as we traveled to all fifty states, constantly googling things like "how to RV" and "what is boondocking?" Meanwhile, we flooded the bathroom, took ice-cold showers, and got stuck in the mud. Now, we've been full-timing for nearly six years and we've learned the ins and outs of RVing America. In this guide, I answer all of the most common questions we receive about RV living, from how to choose the right RV to how we get mail on the road, to how to find free camping. This guide is for anyone exploring the RV lifestyle and looking for RVing books to help make the transition easier. Also, because I want to make sure this book is valuable for you, below you can see a few specific areas of RVing I cover.A few topics I cover in the guide: - How to find great internet on the road- The costs of full-time RVing- Whether or not to tow a car behind your RV- What we do for health insurance while traveling- The best RVing clubs and memberships- Our favorite apps for RVersA few topics I DON'T cover, since I have zero experience in these areas, are:- Traveling with kids- How to downsize to an RV from a house- How to travel with petsTransitioning to living on the road was the best decision my husband and I could have ever made. RVing has improved our marriage and our life together, and we've seen more of the world than we could have ever imagined. While this book isn't about our story or why you should travel, it will be a useful tool as you find yourself asking a million different questions about what it's like living in an RV.Oh, and don't forget to use the #RVlife on Instagram once you start traveling. That's what all the cool kids do.Book A Beginner's Guide to Living in an RV: Everything I Wish I Knew Before Full-Time RVing Across America Review :
Well organized book. There are a few gems in here, like how to explain your lifestyle if pulled over by cops, basic terminology, and breakdown of different types of RVs, camping, and how to screen potential sites. However most of this you can find in an half an hour of googling. And as stated by previous reviewers, buried amongst the OMG SO GREAT! 5 star reviews (paid for?), some of the info is WAY off. Eg rv price, club value (escapees isn’t all they crack it up to be- look up your own info), cost of living (more expensive than you think. Plan for it), and the sheer, unrelenting number of repairs, especially on newer units cutting corners. Between setting up and breaking down, finding places to stay, and dealing with things breaking constantly, RVing full time is a second job. Alyssa and Heath are exactly the type of hip, young faces that the dying RV industry wants to promote the lifestyle, so it’s no surprise that they’re hired by winnebago and also have escapee ties. I mean dying literally since most RVers are elderly, and the industry is trying hard to appeal to the young digital nomad set. However with the astronomical cost of petrol, declining quality of RVs, and notoriously shady dealerships, I doubt this will catch on to any great degree amongst my generation. I planned on full timing for the next few years but after dealing with the reality of the above, I’m already planning on selling my unit in a few months. When it’s fun it’s spectacular, and I don’t regret crossing another “I wish” off my list, but at the end of the day RV life is really just another example of unsustainable petrol-based excess going the way of the dodo, mainly at the industry’s own hands, despite all the fresh faces they hire to convince you otherwise. Wow - What a TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT! It's as though the author did a little internet checking, then cut & pasted that, & called it a book. Also, very large print, huge spaces between paragraphs, extra pages between chapters, then a bunch of dumb photos, to make the book APPEAR larger/longer. Everything I read, I already knew (and I consider myself a "newbie!") --ALSO - A ton of stuff she states is completely FALSE! Example? Prices of RVs - W-a-y-y off, not even close! Then, she slams Passport America, stating, "Passport America parks have a reputation for not being very nice." REALLY?!? We just joined, & the very first place we stayed (Tahoe Valley) was gorgeous!! 2nd place was Sunriver, OR; also very nice, so WHAT is she talking about?? I'm guessing she was paid to mention the places "she likes"??Author lists a TON of url's for sites to look at/go to, & also blogging. As several other reviewers have stated, she's probably a big blogger, who did a LITTLE research, then called it a book.DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
